Due to the high incidence of CPU socket damage, which voids the system board warranty, on returned Desktop and Workstation system boards, in April 2014 HP introduced a CPU insertion and removal tool (HP spare kit number 732049-001) to replace Intel CPUs. This reusable tool includes two parts: the insertion/extraction tool (pictured, left), which removes the processor from the system board slot, and the stage (pictured, right), which properly aligns the processor for insertion into the CPU slot on the system board. The tool easily extracts and inserts CPUs while significantly reducing the likelihood of damage to the CPU socket. The LGA socket is used in a wide variety of HP desktops and workstations.
